内容简介

该书是一本针对中级偏高英语水平的学习者准备考试课程的辅导教程。本教程有两个目的：（1）为准备参加新托福考试的考生做考前准备；（2）为此类考生能够在大学成功地完成学业进行必要的语言训练。本书包括36个语言技能训练单元和4套完整的模拟考试练习题。这4套模拟练习题共有1，200多道从形式和内容都与新托福考试真题非常相似的题目。对于大约15周的学习而言，这些学习资料是充裕的。本书可用作：——考试准备课程中备考托福考试的首选教材。——作为提高阅读、听力、口语和写作技能的首要或辅助教材。——独立自学，语言实验室或辅导教材。本书是依据语言认知学习理论研究开发的，并根据人们学习语言的规律进行设计的。本书由Focus （聚焦），Do you know？ （你知道吗？），Practice （实践），Extension （拓展）和Progress （进展）等5大单元组成。Focus （聚焦）每个单元由做一个练习开始，通过做这个练习使考生集中注意力。因此，本单元学习阶段，这一练习有助于考生预测将要学习的内容。此内容通常由一个英语测试开始——一段短文阅读，一个对话，一段讲座或者一段论文，这对考生具有一定的挑战性，考生要领悟到题目中相关的原则。该部分有助于激励考生的逻辑归纳思维。练习可以在课堂进行，也可以作为课后练习。Do you know？ （你知道吗？）此部分为考生在阅读、听力、口语、写作四项技能的每项技能都给予了指导，说明相关术语和概念，解释针对某一技能如何进行测试，并举例说明，还提供有用的学习策略。此部分可作为课堂教学参与讨论材料，或作为课后练习。Practice （实践）此部分由几套测试题组成，这些试题要求考生运用所掌握的语言技能。练习试题有助于考生更加熟悉新托福考试的形式和内容，减少紧张情绪，增强信心，强化语言技能。考生可单独、两人或按小组做这类练习，也可作为课后练习。Extension （拓展）人们的语言能力是通过社会交往获得的。此部分为考生提供了课堂活动的一些理念与话题，这些理念与话题旨在培养考生在讨论中相互合作、相互激发的能力，拓展语言技能实践的能力，指导考生复习以及将课堂所学知识与现实社会相联系的能力。拓展活动是在以学生为中心的理论指导下设计而成的。很多此类活动要求考生参与活动，探寻并创建自己的类似新托福考试的内容。Progress （进展）在语言能力积累过程中，定期评估是必不可少的，因此对语言能力的测试贯穿于整...
